The West Indies triumphed with a 191-run win over Sri Lanka in the 1987 Cricket World Cup, led by Viv Richards’ incredible 181 off 125 balls. Desmond Haynes also contributed 105 runs. Despite this win, West Indies finished third in Group B, with Australia winning the World Cup. Australia eventually claimed the 1987 World Cup title, defeating England by seven runs in a thrilling final at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
