Utah Tech and University of Utah propose partnership to train doctors for underserved regions

The University of Utah and Utah Tech University have proposed a new Southern Utah Regional Medical Campus in St. George to address the state’s medical desert. The $10.6 million initiative, aiming to train doctors for underserved regions, would offer an accelerated MD program with direct residency entry. This collaboration seeks to improve healthcare access, retain physicians in rural Utah, and increase medical workforce availability, with the goal of training 10 students annually, eventually scaling to 25.
