University tuition fees in England set to rise by £285 next autumn, despite 16% drop in student visa applications

England’s university tuition fees are set to rise for the first time in eight years, increasing by £285 to £9,535 annually from October 2025. The government says the increase, alongside a boost in maintenance loans, is necessary to ensure universities remain financially stable amid rising costs and declining international student numbers.
