UN appoints former British diplomat Tom Fletcher as new humanitarian chief

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has appointed Tom Fletcher as the new UN humanitarian chief, succeeding Martin Griffiths. Fletcher, formerly the UK’s ambassador to Lebanon and adviser to UK prime ministers, will step in following acting chief Joyce Msuya. The US anticipates close collaboration with Fletcher to address global humanitarian crises.
