‘Ticking time bomb’: Someone moved UK’s oldest satellite, no one knows who did and why

Date:

Britain’s first satellite is out of its place. Launched in 1969, Skynet-1A was supposed to drift over the Indian Ocean. It is now located over the Americas. Nobody knows how it got there. Experts say it was deliberately moved in the 1970s. The satellite is no longer operational and poses a risk of collision with other satellites and space debris.
