Joe Root surpassed Alastair Cook’s record of most Test centuries for England, achieving his 34th century in the second Test against Sri Lanka. Cook praised Root, calling him England’s greatest. Root has accumulated 12,377 runs at an average of 50.93 in his career. Root’s highest individual Test score is 254.
