‘Pushing undercooked Shami won’t be fair’

Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has advised against rushing Mohammed Shami back into Test cricket for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Despite a promising return in a recent Ranji Trophy match, Chopra believes Shami needs more time to regain full fitness and form after a year-long injury layoff. He cautioned that playing Shami in Australia’s demanding conditions so soon could risk further injury.
