Michigan Law School sees record applications in 166 years: Why competition to get into US law schools is so fierce this year

Date:

Competition for US law school spots is fiercer than ever, with a 20.5% increase in applications this year. Economic uncertainty, corporate job market slowdowns, and rising salaries in legal careers are driving this surge. Georgetown Law received 14,000 applications for just 650 spots, while the University of Michigan saw record numbers. Black applicants also increased by 30%. The heightened demand reflects the growing appeal of law as a stable and lucrative career option in uncertain times.
