IIT Kharagpur Resolves Disciplinary Cases of 18 Professors After Apologies, Faces Criticism for Authoritarian Action

IIT Kharagpur announced that 18 professors who received show cause notices for disciplinary reasons had their cases resolved after apologizing. Of the 85 notices issued, 62 professors were warned to avoid future violations. The notices were initially prompted by allegations of nepotism in recruitment, which the institute denied. The faculty associations of Visva Bharati and Jadavpur universities criticized the institute’s actions as oppressive.
