Guru Nanak Jayanti 2024: Which States Will Have Schools Closed on November 15?

In observance of Guru Nanak Gurpurab, schools nationwide will close on November 15 to honor the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak, Sikhism’s founder. This gazetted holiday allows families to join religious gatherings, prayers, and community events that highlight Guru Nanak’s legacy. Punjab schools will remain closed on November 16 as well to honor the martyrdom of revolutionary leader Kartar Singh Sarabha. Odisha schools, meanwhile, will observe a holiday on November 15 for Rahas Purnima, a cultural festival celebrating the full moon. November 2024, filled with major festivals, brings both celebration and the start of pre-exam preparations for students.
