Govt asks IPL to ban tobacco and alcohol advertisements

The Union health ministry has urged the Indian Premier League to ban all forms of tobacco and alcohol advertising, including surrogate promotions, within stadium premises and during televised matches. The request aims to reduce the consumption of these harmful products among the youth, by discouraging sports and sports figures from endorsing them.
