Sri Lanka’s women’s cricket team secured their maiden Asia Cup title with an impressive eight-wicket victory over India. Chasing 166, Sri Lanka’s innings was anchored by Chamari Athapaththu’s 61 off 43 and Harshitha Samarawickrama’s 69 not out off 51. Their 87-run partnership, followed by a 73-run stand between Samarawickrama and Kavisha Dilhari, sealed the win with nine balls to spare. India’s 165/6 was led by Smriti Mandhana’s 60, but Sri Lanka’s disciplined bowling proved decisive.
