India etch new powerplay record in 1st T20I vs SL

India set a new record with a powerplay score of 74 runs against Sri Lanka in the 1st T20I at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 40 off 21 balls, and Shubman Gill added 34 off 16. The duo’s aggressive batting led India to 51 runs in just four overs. Despite Sri Lanka’s efforts, their bowlers struggled. Gill’s dismissal at 74-1 marked India’s highest powerplay score against Sri Lanka in T20Is. India reached 100-2 in 8.4 overs.
