Billie Eilish hit directly in the face by object while performing on tour

Date:

Despite its name, Billie Eilish’s “Hit Me Hard and Soft Tour” is not an open invitation for fans to throw objects at her.

Stopping in Glendale, Arizona, on Friday, the 22-year-old pop star sat cross-legged on the Desert Diamond Arena stage to perform the emotional Grammy and Academy Award-winning ballad, “What Was I Made For?” from last year’s blockbuster “Barbie” movie.

Things took a turn when she was hit directly in the face with an object.

Video shared on social media shows Eilish being hit with what appeared to be a homemade fan necklace.

Eilish winced upon its impact, turning her head to show palpable disappointment. Fans booed before Eilish re-started, picking up the necklace shortly after and tossing it aside with disgust.

A representative for Eilish did not immediately return Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

The incident is yet another display of thoughtless decision-making by fans who have in the past two years thrown objects, including phones, bracelets and bottles, at performers. Kelsea Ballerini, Harry Styles and Bebe Rexha have all been hit by objects while singing on stage. Rexha was hospitalized and required stitches after a fan threw a phone at her face in the summer of 2023.

In June 2023, Eilish told The Hollywood Reporter that the troubling trend was nothing new. “I’ve been getting hit onstage with things for like, literally, six years, I don’t know why this is like new,” Eilish said. “People just get excited and it can be dangerous.”

“It’s absolutely infuriating when you’re up there,” she added. “I have mixed feelings about it, because when you’re up there it blows. But you know it’s out of love and they’re just trying to give you something.”

Eilish’s next performance is Monday evening at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California, where Styles previously fell victim in 2022.
