India’s top-order batters displayed fearless cricket to counter New Zealand’s first-innings lead of 356 runs, with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli leading the charge to propel India to 231/3 at stumps. Kohli was dismissed off the last ball of the day, but not before he had crossed the milestone of 9,000 Test runs. India trailed New Zealand by 125 runs at close of play on day three.
